Tim Tebow was born in the Philippines to American missionary parents in 1987. He is best known for his career as a professional football player for the NFL. A Florida native, Tebow played for the Florida Gators, where he enjoyed a successful career as a college player. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2007 and set records for passing speed and other plays. In 2010, the Denver Broncos drafted Tebow, but after a year of playing with the team as a quarterback, Tebow was traded to the New York Jets. When that team released him, he tried out for the New England Patriots team but was not accepted onto the regular roster. Later, Tebow also tried to become a quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles but failed to make it onto that team as a regular as well. He then pursued a career in professional baseball, playing for the New York Mets for several years before retiring from the sport at the age of 33. He later became a tight end for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the team released him and he did not become a regular player. Tebow shares these disappointments in his book, using his tumultuous career as an example of life’s challenges and discussing how he coped with these failures.
